I'll put my site up here although I'm not sure the design world will sit up and notice.  I wanted minimal and the balance theme gave me that so I haven't deviated much from the original theme.

Even though the site is only in its infancy, I'd be interested to get opinions of others, does the lack of pictures/graphics take anything away from the experience ?

I may end up with links to youtube videos which will add something different to the experience.

I want to personalize the site a little to reinforce its a friendly site and not advertising a business as such, without giving too much detail about myself, so an 'about' page is probably needed.

I do anticipate quote a lot of posts going up, so in time post/category lists will take up more room.

Sorry Susan,  the link has been changed by a moderator, not sure why.

I've added it to my signature instead.

We are going through a patch of design changes, so its not looking perfect right now. Ideally we would do this on a test site, but as the site is so new and no one really finds there way their just yet I thought id just let it progress naturally.

Using the minimal theme now and it's starting to look close to how I'd like it.  A couple of small design issues to sort now.

Nice start. I really like the red color of the button. I thought they clashed with the orange of the hyperlinks, but then realized that the hover color of the button was orange. I would continue along that vein, and change the hover of the hyperlinks from that gray color to red - I think that would pop, and feel more coordinated.

 

I like your little logo - I read your "I need a logo" post, too 🙂

Susan,  thanks for the feedback.  I'll try what you suggested re the hover color. I'm  trying to play with the tag line area and that button, I'd like to wrap the text within its own area leaving the button on its own to the right, but that's probably going to need a template change.

 

Getting the logo was a great experience, I had dozens and dozens of designs to choose from, and good service from the support guys.

You might want to consider moving the email sign up box to the right - I think it will look a little better under the red button above it.

Those featured areas are not liking being empty so I'll have to fill area 3 with something to keep area in place.  I have an idea for that.
