I worked with another developer to build our site: https://stromlaw.com years ago but he is no longer with us, and we are now making a new demo site in the background: http://demo.stromlaw.com to eventually replace our current site to give it a fresher look.
    Here's my issue:
    - The featured posts widget provided by either genesis or jetpack only displays the posts vertically rather than horizontally so that doesn't work.
    - I'm really like the way the "From the blog" section on stromlaw.com looks under the slider, so I want to incorporate that section into the Outreach Pro child theme, under the slider.
    - Both themes ('stromlaw' and "outreach pro') are using different slider plugins so the wp-cycle references in the old stromlaw.com php files are irrelevant to the new theme ("home.php, home-feature.php, home-content.php").

I'm studying all of the style sheets and php files to find the code that deals with this feature, and when I inspect the code side-by-side with stromlaw.com and demo.stromlaw.com I can't see what the difference is.

    Please help!! I'm going crazy.

**Side note: Don't judge demo.stromlaw.com too harshly, I'm setting it up with the basic structure and making it pretty later. I need to prove to my boss that it is a functional theme.

You can use CSS to display featured posts inline.

Find a theme demo from the Shop for themes page to inspect the CSS and see how its done.
