    I have an old Genesis website that uses the Monochrome Pro theme v1.0. I just tried upgrading to Monochrome Pro v1.61, and it was a disaster. Pretty much everything broke. What's the latest version I can upgrade to before things start to radically change?

    Monochrome 1.0 was Widgetized, i.e., has the widgetized home page. Version 1.6 is block based. It was rebuilt to use blocks instead of Widgets.

    Hi Anita, Thanks for your reply. I'm currently running PHP 7.4. Unfortunately, I can't upgrade to the latest because I host many older websites that don't support the newest version of PHP. It sounds like I may be able to upgrade to anything below v1.6, correct?

    Well, it sounds like you are trying to upgrade to the Block version of Monochrome and not the widgetized version. Is that correct?

    No, I want the latest Monochrome Pro version that's still widgetized. So that would be v1.51, correct?

    No, the last version of widgets is version 1.2.0. After that all updates are Block based. What I would suggest if you plan to install 1.2.0 is to install the Widget Importer & Exporter plugin - https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-importer-exporter/. Export your widgets for safe keeping. Then when you install/activate the 1.2.0 if your widgets are missing, you can import that file you exported.
