How can we modify the archive-page—from the blog to categories, particularly using AB?
When visiting the Edit Page in the dashboard, none of these pages permit mods.

I asked in Genesis Slack and Bill Erickson provided the following response:
It’s doable with a bit of code. My genesis starter theme has that functionality built-in: https://github.com/billerickson/EA-Genesis-Child/blob/master/inc/category-landing-page.php
You go to Landing Pages > Add New, add whatever blocks you want, then in the right column select the taxonomy and term.
The file is
He then wrote:
You can also install that as a standalone plugin: https://github.com/billerickson/Category-Landing-Page/
So you can give that a try. You are welcome to join Slack here. You will land in the General channel and then there are a lot of other channels one being Gutenberg.

Thanks for investing the time to explore the question in the broader network and for following up with a proposed solution! And a potentially interesting work around at that!
To test, I dropped Erickson's plugin on the staging site and included in the functions.php file the function he shares in the setup instructions that is required. No dice.
Bill says on the plugin page,
Once installed and set up, go to Landing Pages > Add New. Add any number of blocks and content to your landing page. Look for the "Appears On" box in the right column. Select the taxonomy (ex: "Category") and the taxonomy term (ex: "Appetizers") that you would like this landing page used on. Click "Publish" and your landing page content will appear at the top of the archive.
The issue is that in the Post Editor, there is no "Display On" option. I wonder whether this is related to the recent updates on November 13 SP released for some of the themes (I am using Magazine 3.5.0).
Any additional thoughts?

I'm not sure what you mean by "Display On". Do you mean "Appears On"? You may need to click the "G" in the top right corner of the Post Editor to display the Genesis settings. Have you checked there?

Thanks for the response.
Hmmm, there is no "G" settings in the top right of the post editor on the archive pages (blog, categories, etc.), so unfortunately this isn't an option.
I discovered in another post in the forum you mention the removal of the Archive Template post Gen 3.0. Could this be the factor preventing changing layout via Bill's plugin?December 4, 2019 at 6:59 am #495226
