    Hello,

I'd like to modify the behavior of the Featured Post Widget. The first modification would be changing the Featured Post Image link to a different (specified) page. How I specify it would be perhaps a custom field on the post. You see, the posts are created to display correctly on the Homepage, and these posts are not meant to be seen as Single Page.

I found the Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widget, and while that does have some additional options, it doesn't seem to play well with WordPress 4.5. I also don't think it has the filters I need. Am I better off making a copy of this plug-in and modifying it to fit my needs?

Any other widgets I should look into?

What do you want to link? The title or image?

I'm hiding the Title, and moved the H2 tag to the post itself.

I wanted the image to link to something custom.

I ended up solving this by getting Genesis Featured Posts Combo plugin. It's got what I needed.

Or you can upload the file from this tutorial which creates a custom Genesis Featured Posts widget which enables you to link any posts featured image to any URL when displayed using the featured posts widget.
