    I'm using Executive Pro theme, and I modified the frontpage widget areas as follows:

    home top
    home middle
    CTA
    home bottom (added by me)

    The result is too much padding between home top and home middle, obviously as a result of the padding already built in to serve their original configuration..

    My site is not live (developed offline), so see screenshot here:

    I'd like to reduce the padding between home top and home middle (by a factor of 2 I suppose). What would be the best way to go about this?

    I haven't used Executive Pro Theme on any site but I see that the padding of home top and home middle on the demo is governed by the following lines in style.css.

    /* Line 1284 */
    .home-middle, .home-top
    {
    background-color: #ffffff;
    clear: both;
    overflow-x: hidden;
    overflow-y: hidden;
    padding-top: 6rem;
    padding-right: 3rem;
    padding-bottom: 0px;
    padding-left: 3rem;
    }

    Have you tried changing the value of padding-top to 2rem or 3 rem?
    I think that should work
