    Hi everyone-
I did a search and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for- I am not a designer or coder, so I might need some hand holding!

I use the Modern Blogger Pro theme. My website is here.

Rather than displaying an excerpt that merely includes the fist # of characters in the post, I would like to display the meta description I've written via my WordPress Yoast Plug in.

Is this possible? Would I need an additional plug in? I am not really comfortable with jumping in and changing code, but I will give it a try if need be.

    Thank you in advance.

The meta description is not an area that would be visible on the front end of the website. It's used in the underlying code for the search engines. I believe if you were to try to do this - the description content would show in the search engine twice and you may not want that repetition going on - on every one of you blog posts. I search the meta descriptions in the WordPress Plugin Repository and only one thing showed up for realtors.

Is there any particular reason why you want to use the Meta Description and not the Excerpt field?

Thanks for your reply. Meta description might not have been the best term- I'm thinking more of the "snippet" I write for each blog post that shows up in search results.

I love the idea of an excerpt, but I'd like to have a custom, excerpt rather that wordpress automatically pulling the first 140 characters. Sometimes, my blog posts start off with a disclaimer, or other uninteresting information and I'd like the opportunity to write something more engaging.

Did you find a solution for this? I would also like the carefully written snippet to show on my site in the excerpt field.
