Participanti have just seen that they have released a new version of the Minimum Child Theme!
i bought the Minimum v2 a couple of days ago, and today is the v3 available for free for us
I am ust learning how to configure the v2, i dont think is a good idea to start over, haha
anyway are you "minimum 2" users going to install the v3 inmediatly?August 26, 2013 at 3:52 pm #58928Anita
KeymasterI am not using it and haven't had a change to install it. Do you see a big difference between the two? I know you did your customizations in v1.

MemberI actually had a play with Minimum Pro today - site is more of a playground than anything serious, but if you look at the source around the header for http://garyjones.co.uk you might see some interesting bits. The site tagline and primary nav are pulled into the site header, where they semantically should be (primary nav outside of the header is one thing that Genesis gets wrong, but it wasn't easy to wedge that into the Genesis 2.0 overhaul) since they are repeated on each page. Also, the top nav is not a custom menu widget in an aside, but a proper menu location in a nav.

ParticipantWell i am using it right now: http://www.danielnovoa.com
I don't know what is happening with the background image it looks horrible, i am trying different sizes but nothing happens.. maybe it's late and i just need to sleep! In general terms, i like this Minimum-Pro..
i'm still working on it...August 27, 2013 at 2:08 am #59010Timtuiting
Member1) I also have problem with the image on the homepage. The Get Started info gives you the impression that this is a walk in the park compared to what was the case in 2.0 where the image had to be uploaded using FTP and renamed sample.jpg. However, my image is not cropping at all though it is the same size as the image I used in 2.o (1600 X 600 per the suggestions.)
2) I do not think the fonts in the the new iteration stand out as well as in 2.0. Or am I missing something?
3) I am not seeing my featured image showing up in the post at all, It used to show beautifully across the top of the post.
Overall, a bit disappointed so far.

It seems the way the image on the front page is used is completely different from 2.0. I uploaded a giant photo and now it looks sort of decent. You need to get a photo that looks good at the top, though. The effect is interesting and found in quite a few other themes. I am not sure why I can see glimpses of the entire photo whereas this is not the case in the demo.August 27, 2013 at 8:26 am #59043ruidoblanco
Participant@Timtuiting: wich image size did you use?

ParticipantI have tried several sizes, this last one looks better but is not sharp as the original.. and this is not good for a photography website

MemberHi

MemberThanks. I did increase the size of the background image and it looks okay. The main point is that Minimum Pro and Minimum are totally different now in terms of the front page. I kind of liked the old way though the new way is interesting. I really think that people should be told much more about this change, though. Come on Brian!

ParticipantYes, they are different!
my problem is that the front page images are not quite sharp as the original upload. And i don't know if i like the idea of upload a full size image and only will be displayed a part of it in the homepage..

Member@ruidoblanco
Your background image is 2000 x 1246
It looks pretty sharp to me but why not cut it down to the 1600 x 1050 used in the demo?Cut it to the required dimensions and optimise it using your image editing software.

MemberI have to admit that I've very unimpressed with how the new home page image works. It is, as some of us would say, "funky". It seems to be great for rather obscure, moody, vague images. But less so for images that you want to have a specific look to it. I've tried the home page image with a group of folks: impossible! Their heads keep getting cut off, or weird positioning of the bodies. So I've elected just to remove the home page image: a shame as I'd like to have an image there.
