When I first installed Genesis I didn't install a child theme. I made a few modifications to the functions.php file and the style.css. I figured I would copy and paste the changes I made to the Genesis Sample child theme files but I get php errors when I reload the page.

What is the best way to migrate the changes to the child theme?

Okay I was able to figure this out myself. I installed the new child theme and copied over the exact changes I made to the the functions.php and style.css file. I then re-created the widgets I had in use with the parent theme.
