I feel like I'm losing my mind here and missing something very simple...

I have the Metric theme installed. Instead of the default homepage, I want just a basic, blog homepage.

So I created a page, called it home, and assigned it "blog" for the template

Then I went into the Reading Settings, chose Static page, and "home" as front page

But the layout is all screwed up... I know this is something small I am overlooking

Delete home.php and set your Reading settings back to their defaults. Then delete all the .home body class selectors/rules form your style sheet, e.g. .home #inner
