    WP 3.5 just hit the streets and up to my ears in changes. One of the most comprehensive changes is Media. On the surface it's a welcome improvement, but under the surface there are problems.

    I keep media files in a different directory than the default setting. There's no longer an option to change directories. Instead, a snippet of code must be added to config.php to change the default media upload location.

    Does anyone know what that snippet of code is?

    Hi Ron - See http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_upload_dir near the bottom on using the UPLOADS constant.

    Glad to see you're still searching for the perfect snippet.

    Thanks, Bill. Got it.

    The one that works best is the UPLOADS constant. I inserted this into the config.php file and things are back to normal

    /** Change Location Of Media Uploads. */
    define('WP_UPLOADS_URL', 'http://test.wpnew.com/folder/uploads');

    On sites which had a different images location, I noticed that the URL was retained in the CP even after upgrading to WP 3.5. If you change the uploads URL after 3.5 is installed, even with the UPLOADS constant it will not display in the CP.

    As an aside, and after all the work that the WordPress crew put into it, the Media uploader still sucks.
