Magazine Pro home page and post archives issue

Hi,

I'm transitioning an existing site to Genesis. I want my home page to be organized like my current home page, which displays 6 posts up to their inserted <!--more Continue to the recipe »--> cut-off (see cookieandkate.com). Under that, I want navigation links to appear ("next posts"). This seems like a very basic thing to do but I can't figure out how to make it happen. I also can't even access my archive pages by adding /page/2/ to the end of my test site's URL.

I've followed the Magazine Pro theme instructions and added a widget in the Home – Top position that displays the 6 most recent posts. That makes my posts appear as I want them to, but the nav links are missing below. I'm afraid I don't quite understand how Genesis manages the home page and post archives pages.

If you want to use a "normal" blog homepage instead of the widgetized homepage, just rename your home.php to home-old.php (or it may be front-page.php, which you can rename to front-page-old.php). This will take away the functionality of the home widgets and allow you display blog posts according to your Genesis theme settings. Hope that helps!

That worked like a charm, thank you!

If anyone else has the same issue, I realized that I couldn't access my archive pages using the /page/2/ URL structure because I hadn't changed my permalink settings for my test site yet. Once I updated my permalink settings to not include the "?" and renamed front-page.php to front-page-old.php, my site started functioning as desired.
