I am featuring pages and posts on my home page (Enterprise child theme) using the content limit settings and the featured image.  This works really well, except the text is all jumbled together with no line breaks or space so it isn't easy to read.  This does not seem like a feature ;-).  The featured pages/posts are in the Home Middle row of the layout.   For obvious reasons (space) I can't display the whole post or page in the space available, but what is there needs to be formatted for good design and readability.

Your suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thought I'd be able to search and find something on this but did not.  Happy to be pointed to a previous answer if someone is better at searching than I was.

    Thanks - K

You'd need to display the full content and then truncate the content with the more tag in the post editor.

Thanks, John.  However both featured posts and pages ignore the <!-- more --> tag when  added to the source post/page, and using the "Full Content" mode of the featured post/page.  And other suggestion?

Hard to imagine a limit content situation where you would want to ignore line breaks and simply provide text without any formatting.  This seems like a strange default.  Works so nicely with content limit other than the line break issue.  Featured posts/pages seems like a very basic building block for sites that needs formatting control without too many work-arounds.  Just my 2 cents.

You mean you are getting the full content even with the more tag? Can't think of any reason it wouldn't be working. Maybe a plugin conflict.

Yes., thanks. Not a lot of plug-ins on this site... but will check.  If anyone else has suggestions I'd like to hear from you.   I read in some old (2009, etc.) references something about having to add code to templates to get the more tag to work in pages, etc.  is that still the case?  So many little code modification make site maintenance a pain.

No, you don't need to do anything to enable the more tag for pages

I want my featured pages/posts to show bullets, and formatting. Is there a way do that?  Not sure I understand using the more tag either. I am using the featured pages content character setting. Do I need to use the more tage on the actual post? But I need the bullets and character formatting to FEATURE the content.

I'm having similar issues with the featured page widget. On a new dev site (not live) the paragraphs are running together and the opening <h2> is bleeding into the following <p> text. This happens even when the page content is less than the content character limit.

I'm happy to provide a link via private message to anyone who knows how to troubleshoot this.

Streamline Pro has the same issue, I need to add bullets to Featured Pages widget, but cannot, how can we force Featured Pages Widgets to display format tags?

    handsun,

I can't remember where I got this reference but I've installed Eric Decker's Genesis Featured Page Extra plugin which has more controls and the custom HTML will hold a break. This plugin should allow you to do whatever you need. Worked for me.
