I'm trying to figure out a way to have the top widget area show 1 large image with 3 smaller thumbnails + title underneath. I'm pretty positive it's possible but I just can't figure out how to make it happen. I'm using the Magazine Pro theme. I'm looking for something similar to the top home widget featured area in Elle.

    Hi,

Yes, this is possible using the "Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widget" plugin. Install the plugin, then go to the Customizer or to "Appearance > Widgets" and add this widget to the Home Top widget area.

In the GSFCW widget settings for Home Top, make the following changes, highlighted in green. (I believe the other setting are default values but you may have to tweak them as well.) This will load three posts - in my case I've used the ID for three specific posts but GSFCW can add three from a category or other taxonomy, etc.. It's important to use the "one-third" column class setting.

The result looks like this. You may have to adjust the CSS for this widget area to have it display appropriately on different device sizes. You can also tweak the widget setup for titles, excerpt, image size, etc.
