Is there a way to make posts sticky in Portfolio Pro custom post type?

Hi, I hope the answer to this is not super obvious, but I've been searching and searching and can't seem to solve this problem.

I want one post in the custom post type archives of Genesis Portfolio Pro (in a Portfolio Type taxonomy) to always be the first post in the list.

I tried using the "order" feature. But if I give it any order number - 1 or 1000 - it goes to the end of the list.

Right now I'm resorting to adjusting the date and time on that one post every time I add a new post, to ensure it stays as the first one in the list of portfolio posts.

I see there are plugins for this, but not many, and not well maintained. So I'm weary of going that route.

I'm hoping there is a line of code that will solve this in functions.php or something?

I tried a few searches with terms about WP custom post types in general, and I don't see anything to 'support' a sticky post. Unless I missed it.

I definitely do not see the 'sticky' checkbox on my site under the "visibility" settings, as described here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-make-sticky-posts-in-wordpress/ (not even in regular posts).

Am I crazy? Does my site just not have this? It is updated to everything that can be updated.

Just to be clear: by the term "sticky," I don't mean static positioning of an element in one place in the design, even if a user scrolls. I mean, that one post is always the first post shown in that taxonomy archive for Genesis Portfolio Pro plugin posts, without having to control it by the date or the 'order' fields.
