I found the code in Appearance > Editor for the grid loop, but honestly I'm at a loss on how to successfully alter it to make it do what I want (I have figured out how to make changes that then "break" my website, lol).

Some of what I'm trying to do:

    1. to exclude specific post categories from appearing in the grid on the home page

    2. to exclude the post author information on the home page (but have it still appear on the actual post itself)

    3. to have the post title in the grid columns not indent (I figured out how to remove the date/comment on the left, but that's now a blank space and the post title doesn't extend the full width of its column)

    4. to include the category title and be able to indicate # of posts from different categories to appear on the home page

The website in question is http://www.kickbuttvacations.com  An example of what I'm trying to emulate can be seen at http://www.shipsntripstravel.com

Thank you in advance for ANY advice.

with some trial & error I figured out how to get the title to extend the width of the post columns on the home page.

Still can't figure out how to remove the author info on the home page, exclude certain categories from appearing on the home page, or if it's possible to include the category title on the home page & control the # of posts appearing from any particular category.
