    The site that I just published looks OK except for one thing: The footer is too far from the main content. How can I position the footer to my liking? My website is http://www.hairloss-reversible.com and I'm using the Genesis Framework v.2.2.5. I'm new to WordPress and Studio Press. My coding skills are limited.

    Hi there,

    I'm assuming you mean the white space above your footer menu? If so, have a look in your style.css file around line 1473 for this section:

    .site-footer {
    	background-color: #fff;
    	font-size: 16px;
    	font-size: 1.6rem;
    	line-height: 1;
    	padding: 40px 0;
    	text-align: center;
    }

    The line you want to adjust is

    padding: 40px 0:

    That is shorthand that is saying apply 40px of padding to the top and bottom of the footer area, and 0 to the left and right. Try reducing the 40 to a lower number until it's the distance you'd like. If it reduces the bottom padding too much , you can separate that statement and use padding-top and padding-bottom to have different values. Hope that makes sense!

    You can accomplish troubleshooting this in your browser using this tutorial:

    I reduced the 40px to 30px and refreshed but nothing happened. I'll try again tomorrow. But that link you gave me to Andrea Whitmer's tutorial made me optimistic. I didn't know anything about the Inspector or how to customize the Genesis theme that I got two weeks ago. Now, after viewing the video and reading Andrea's page, I'm sure I'll be able to make my site look the way I want it to look. I also have another site that I'll clamp the Genesis theme onto. It's freezing outside in Columbus, Ohio, but I'm feeling warm and hopeful now about Genesis.

    I see now that the problem is not with the footer; it's with the main content container. It extends too far down on the page after the text ends. How can I shorten this space? If I can shorten the space then the distance between the main content container and the footer box will be just right.

    That link you sent me about the Inspector gives me a lot to think about. I'm going to study it and work with it. I now feel optimistic about customizing the Genesis theme.

    Thanks
