    Hi there,

I've been tampering with genesis for some time, I have made a few websites for friends and family but I would like to build basic and premium themes that can be sold or perhaps given away (to start) on Etsy before I begin offering a personalised service. It's really difficult to find tutorials on how to do so because most Google pages just come up with marketing tips on how to sell the product rather than how to build the actual downloadable theme. I can't imagine anyone who sells downloadable themes buys a new host just to demo their website each time and I believe in the past i'd read about a 'staging' environment and sub-domains but I haven't been able to find a solid tutorial as such, is anyone able to give me some advice?

    Thank you,

    Apryl

Take a look at the Genesis Sample theme to start with.

Then you can use code snippets to modify or add custom functionality to that theme to make it unique.
