Wow... my struggles with the Education Child Theme and Genesis continue.
If you've used the Genesis Media Project Plugin, can you tell me how to integrate it into the rest of the site? It's EASY to see how to add a video and some test and create a new post with it... however, it doesn't seem to add directly into the blog post stream and I don't see any way to add code to a page to get it to be seen. Won't do me any good if "recent posts" can't show these video posts.
I like that it is responsive (at least to various sizes), but how do I get it to show up in my blog post stream, recent posts, etc?
ALSO... without that plugin... how do I get the videos that I add by iframe into a regular post to show up in the summaries of posts at the bottom of the post page. Do I REALLY have to put a featured image with each post to get something to show up? Can't I just get the video to show up the way I've done with 30 other of my sites (NON-Genesis sites).
Dang this is frustrating.

PS: The site I'm working on is http://LessonsFromMyGrandson. I want videos to show up at the bottom of the first page, NOT the images I had to create and then feature. POSSIBLE?
So, I'm unsure of how the Genesis Media Project plugin works, so I can't comment on it's functionality. With the Education Theme, I like to use the Advanced Responsive Video Embedder plugin for embedding videos. It works quite nicely and is very responsive as well.
If you want the videos to show up on the archives page instead of the excerpt and featured image, simply go to Genesis > Theme Settings. Under the content archives section, you should be able to unclick "show featured image" and change "Display post excerpt" to "Display post content". This should show the video if you have it embedded in the post.
Of course, testing would be needed to confirm this would work, but it should, in theory.

@Weslinda Thanks for your help. I FINALLY figured a way to get the Genesis Media Project plugin to work for my site: http://LessonsFromMyGrandson.com Didn't get videos to show up everywhere I wanted, but it's coming along well.
Thanks for the tip about Advanced Responsive Video Embedder - I'll check that for another of my Genesis sites.

@WesLinda - Wes, I installed the Advanced Responsive Video Embedder plugin and am testing it. Some "bang my head against the wall" problems, still.
I figure out how to see videos to posts and make them responsive. This plugin handles them really sweetly! Thanks for this.
What I CAN'T get it to do is show the VIDEO in the post except at the bottom of the posts page. They show up great within each post, but the summary of the post at the bottom of my opening page still doesn't work. Dang this has been difficult.
As you can see on THIS website (NOT Genesis), I have videos showing to entice people to click on them or go to the full post. THAT'S what I want to do here: http://CreateYourOwnLegendNow.com/success/category/blog/
I followed your earlier suggestions (about unclicking the Show Featured Image and changing “Display post excerpt” to “Display post content,” but still have have no videos showing on the posts page, the featured posts, the archives, recent posts, or anywhere else except the main post where the video is embedded using the plugin.
Am I missing something really obvious? I have NO more hair to pull out but would love to get this site up and running today.

Apologies on the slow reply, it's been one crazy week. So I setup the education theme in a clean environment and it appears to be loading the videos as you'd like them to be loaded.

The link above is a "category" page that has a post, with video and a featured image, and I've also used the "more" divider to break up the content below so that it leads to a "read more" link.
You mention that you can't get the "video" to show in the post excerpt at the bottom of the posts page. The configuration that I'm showing above duplicates the page you're talking about exactly. And this is a fresh Genesis and Education theme setup. My only assumption is that something isn't right in your setup or a plugin is interfering with your goals.

@Weslinda Thanks so much for following up with me.
What I really wanted was to have the actual video show up on my opening page... but of course that slows down to load of the page. So I've relented, created jpgs for each video, and now I see the jpg on the opening page and go to the individual post to see the full video. It's MOSTLY the way I want it to operate... now if I could only get the menu "tabs" to appear rather than the clunky-looking menu bar that I have, I'd like it a whole lot more. (I've tried the secondary menu location and don't get what I see in the example on StudioPress.)
And to get my videos to be responsive, I tried the plugin you suggested above: Advanced Responsive Video Embedder plugin - It didn't work very well. But then I noticed a comment in your stream that you were going to report back to the developers about a problem with that plugin. So then I discovered the Fluid Video Embeds plugin and it works like a charm when using their simple short codes.
I had a guru suggest to me one time "good enough is good enough." Hey, not one to "settle," but if I don't get on to creating more content, it won't matter how beautiful my site is because there won't be anything on it.

Hi Charlie,
1) If you look at the homepage, http://dev.kliiq.com/studiopress/ you'll see the videos show, but if you are attempting to embed a number of videos, it's likely to take some time to load. Just the fun of YouTube embeds.
2) The tabs is created by adding a custom menu to header-right, they'll show right up. Secondary is not the location of that menu.
3) It does appear there is a conflict with the Yoast SEO plugin I'm not sure where that has progressed. As I don't use that plugin, I've not run into that issue. Otherwise it's worked like a charm on the installations I've used it on.
4) Content is certainly as important as visual.

One more note, not sure if you saw the getting started information when you purchased the theme, but there are details on how to setup the header menus and the widget areas in the getting started information for the theme.

@Weslinda - Once again, thank you very much for sticking with me.
As I wrote WAY back at the beginning of this project (but on another thread), I DID set up the Header Right as the location for my menu, hoping to get the blue menu tabs to appear. The widget is there, the menu NOT selected as primary or secondary, and NADA. No menu shows up there. (Sorry... I misspoke about using the secondary when I wrote that yesterday).
And the only way I could get my header to be responsive and SHOW what I want was to create the long one as told by the Theme (1140 ?— 120 pixels), center the main part and make it only 240 pixels wide, and add the photo offset to the right. So computers and tablets show it correctly, cellphones only show the center logo. I tried several recommended plugins to be sure I could have a responsive header and none did the trick (you know... the ones that tell me to create 4 different sized logos, input a jpg for each, and when the size of the screen was equal to one of them, they would show the header correctly). What I REALLY wanted was my logo on the LEFT side when viewed on a computer or tablet, but I could never get one that worked correctly on a cellphone when I did that.
What really surprises me with the success of Genesis is that I just KNOW there are tens of thousands of ordinary bloggers who are sharper than I am when it comes to setting up website. Somehow when I set up 57 websites (admittedly not all are WordPress) I never had this much trouble tweaking the site to get it to work the way I wanted.
I used to use Semiologic Pro... sometimes with other themes added on top, especially when creating sales pages. The looks were a bit square, the SEO was superb upon loading, but they seemingly went out of biz. My http://CreateYourOwnLegendNow.com/success/category/blog/ and http://SmileCentre.com are two examples of how that worked.
So... where am I now? I have a serviceable look and function, I have a header that "works" and seems to be responsive, I have videos that are responsive with the YouTube player, and the list of previous posts show jpgs of my videos.
Not bad... just wasn't what I expected coming from StudioPress and Genesis.

1) On the header and the menu not showing, I'd have to have access to test and toy. Without hands on, it's tough for me to say what's happening.
2) On the header background image being responsive, I simply load a different image based on the resolution. Each of the resolutions in the CSS file get their own header image and it solves that issue.
3) I think any web site can be a challenge and some people overthink. Also, sometimes other plugins installed can be the root of some problems. In general though, it's pretty simple once you spend some time with it. Not sure if you've checked out studiopress.tv but it's a nice resource for getting started, as are the tips & resources & code snippets that StudioPress offers are quite handy for a lot of issues.
4) On SEO, and getting what you want. It's always a challenge getting to that end, especially if this isn't your thing. Genesis puts a lot of power in the users hands and I've found it to work amazingly well, but I have been using it for years.
