I have a post that is serving as a Genesis Responsive Slider filler, but it has a custom redirect URL to a static page. So this post does not need to be in archives. How can I exclude it from archives?

You can use code or a plugin http://perishablepress.com/3-ways-to-exclude-content-from-wordpress-feeds/

I have also written a post about how to do this which is up to date and tested.

Brad, I'd rather avoid a plugin for this, and the code would be for an entire category. I'm going for the "granular" approach to control single posts. Where is the post you've written on the subject? I checked your site and feedburner and couldn't find it.

    Thanks

Thanks, Brad. This seems to have worked great. Only (minor) problem is that in the Archives sidebar widget, the month of May is still visible and clickable, even though all posts in May are in the category I just excluded from the Archive. When you click on "May", you are then brought to a 404 page. http://www.thattheyremainfree.com/blog/

Not a huge issue, and I'm sure it will resolve if the client wants to post a legitimate Blog post before the month closes out. If they don't, however, the Month of May might sit orphaned in that sidebar Archive widget.

You can remove the widget or add a conditional tag to the widget using the Widget Logic plugin.

@jorwesflow, I forgot one (1) step in my previous step-by-step instruction on your previous forum on this. Create a category called "Placeholder" - on the posts you are using for the Page redirects - check the Placeholder category and exclude the Placeholder Category ID in the Genesis Settings.

Hello - Where can I find the 'Custom Redirect URL' field? Is that a plugin? ...

UPDATE: Nevermind... I found it in Yoast SEO box 🙂
