I'm looking for more detailed and step-by-step instruction for creating a portfolio (gallery) than those provided with Modern Portfolio or Minimum Pro. Here are questions I have and can't find instruction for:

How to lay out thumbnail images in horizontal rows, with necessary spacing between images? What do you call this thumbnail gallery? Is it a page or post? (In Minimum Pro is this page created as a Portfolio?)

How to link thumbnail images to pages (page or post?) with larger image and detailed description of project? What do you call this featured page? Do I need to manually link the thumbnails to this featured page in the code? Or is there an easier way?

    Thanks for your help.

I would use the portfolio code from the Executive Pro theme as its the best solution and best code.

Brad, thanks for your answer. Where would I find this code?

You can use the code from the Executive Pro files.

Here's a tutorial about how i did this which includes some of the code http://wpsites.net/web-design/add-portfolio-page-to-studiopress-education-theme/

The CSS code may need to be tweaked as all child themes are different.
