I would like to create a child theme from Outreach Pro but I have not been able to successfully do it. I would like to use the same theme but different colors and different home page on some of the webpages on the same website.

For example: I have the main website: Mary Queen of Heaven Parish. I would like to use Outreach Pro with blue on the website and I would like to use a homepage for that website. Now within the same website, I have some webpages for the Preschool and I would like to use the same theme but different customizations only on some of the webpages. Not sure how can I go about it?

Also, I am concerned that if I am using the Outreach Pro without creating a child and I customize it, I will loose all my changes if there is an update.

    Thanks for your help

You can easily create a "child theme" from Outreach Pro. Here is how you do it:

    https://www.carriedils.com/genesis-child-theme-development/

Child themes do not "update". The Genesis framework does, not the child theme. This is the beauty. It's the "engine" which runs your theme...
the "theme" is the design and look which can be customized to your hearts desire.

The "home page" is unique...the "inner pages" can be made to look any way you want..using .css, column classes..and so on. You can change backgrounds (images or colors) for every different page on your site.

There are a TON of very good tutorials and community support for almost anything related to Genesis and WordPress.

Not recommended to create a child theme of a child theme as its not supported by WordPress.

You can create a second style sheet and a custom functionality plugin.
