MemberHi! Im totally new to studiopress and the genesis framework.
I read alot that you guys are the best so i decided to give it a try.Where Im stuck is how do I choose a child theme?
I mean cant i change all the settings on every theme?
(width, fonts, color, widgets etc)And cant I change the other aspects with the page builder?
I would like to turn my current full width layout over to genesis.September 21, 2016 at 12:18 pm #193486Pittsburgh
Membergood luck because the genesis landing page/front page cannot be used with any builder such as Beaver Builder. I am finding that Genesis is very rigid when it comes to anything related to the landing page/front page.

MemberHi,
@ilovesp
You can use any child theme and change all the setting in the style sheet (style.css)
You will only find a few things that can be set up through the Customizer.
For full-width layouts, you probably want to add the Genesis Dambuster plugin when using Beaver Builder.
@pittsburgh your statement is incorrect. Beaver Builder is quite popular with Genesis child themes. If you are having troubles using the widgetized front-pages with Beaver Builder, simply don't use the front-page.php / set a different page as static front-page.

MemberOk, idk anything about css though :S but i heard there are alot of guides here and that there are a few plugins that can help me modify stuff: extender / paraletts.
Should i go for the smallest child theme in size if im using beaver then?
(or will i miss out on anything compared to choosing something like altitude?)And i saw that there are many plugins to use for genesis. I wonder how that fare up speed wise to have many plugins vs just the divi theme?

MemberIf you already know you want a front page layout similar to Altitude Pro, go for Altitude Pro.
Otherwise, use the Genesis Sample theme with Beaver Builder.Many Genesis plugins are small and targets on only a few settings / features, mostly providing an interface for code settings. So their impact on page speed and page size is almost not existent.
You get a speed hit if a theme or plugin is loading lots of Javascript or conflicting styles.
