How to change title in browser bar?

Hey all!  I'm having a bit of trouble with the title in my browser bar.  For some reason, it says the title of my latest blog post instead of the title of my website.  I would like it to say "Natural Nutrition Health Coaching - Shamra Byrne, HHC" instead of "Getting Your Kids to Buy Into Healthy Eating - Natural Nutrition Health Coaching."  How do I change this?  I am using the Genesis framework with the Crystal childtheme.

Dashboard > Settings > General > Change site title. Save changes.

I have the site title set to "Natural Nutrition Health Coaching" and the tagline set to "Shamra Byrne, HHC" which is what I want it to say.  I am looking to get rid of the "How to get your kids to buy into healthy eating" that shows up in the browser bar when you're on the main page.  Any suggestions for that?

The site title is what shows up in the browser bar, so if it's not pulling that in, there's some other issue. Is this issue new? When did you first notice the issue? Have you made any recent changes to your site (upgraded? new plug-in?)

My recommendation at this point is to disable all your plug-ins, and see if the issue resolves itself. If it does, go ahead and re-enable your plug-ins one by one, and see if one of them is the culprit.

Isn't this an SEO related issue in that either an SEO plugin or your Genesis->SEO Settings (Document Title Settings) is impacting this?

If you're using the Genesis framework's built-in SEO and your home doc title settings look correct, are you running any other plugin which would alter or filter your homepage title tag?

What I think it might be is that I changed the home middle widget section to display my latest blog posts using Genesis's "featured posts" widget.  Now, it seems like it is pulling the title from my newest blog post - whichever one is displayed first in the home middle portion of the homepage.  Is there any way around this?  So that I can still display my blog posts in the home middle portion, but not have it pull the title for the browser bar?

Of course! Here's what I tried:

I went to Genesis --> Theme Settings, but I couldn't find Document Title Settings or SEO Settings. I checked over everything there, and there is nowhere that I did anything to change the front page title. When I go to Appearance --> Themes --> Customize (for the Crystal child theme) the site title says "Natural Nutrition Health Coaching" and the tagline says "Shamra Byrne, HHC."  The only plug-ins that I'm running are Align RSS Images, Broken Link Checker, Follow Me, Genesis Simple Hooks, Google XML Sitemaps, Jetack, pType Converter, WordPress SEO, WP-Cycle, and WP SuperCache.

Ok. First, since you have WordPress SEO activated, your Genesis SEO settings have been deactivated. The settings I described are not part of Genesis->Theme Settings; they're part of Genesis->SEO Settings, which WordPress SEO is now handling.

So let's check your SEO->Titles & Meta settings. Click the Home tab, and for the Homepage, what is your title template?

Did you customize this template using any of the template tags on the Help tab?

I just deactivated the WordPress SEO and started using the Genesis SEO and it works!  Thanks so much for helping me through this!

Glad it works for you. I don't think there was a problem with WordPress SEO. I think you just had a template tag configured incorrectly for your home page title, which is easily fixed. If you had made a lot of settings in WordPress SEO, you have to use the plugin SEO Data Transporter to move those settings to Genesis SEO. Otherwise, all of your configuration work will be lost. Also, keep in mind that WordPress SEO includes an integrated XML sitemap, something that is not part of Genesis SEO. You'll need a separate plugin for that functionality.
