How to change copyright section?

Hi, I'm using eleven40 theme. How to change copyright section at the end of the theme?

Should I need to copy and paste that Credits text?
If so, Where to paste? On the footer.php?
If so, Do I need to paste that after the codes it already has? or Do I need to delete all codes from footer.php and paste credits text code only?

I used this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-simple-edits/ and then made the changes to the code within the plugin. I changed one at a time to make sure i didn't screw up lol. Worked fine and did what i wanted it to do.

Tom that replied seems to be pretty knowledgeable - is there an issue to doing it this way?

Simple Edits is the plugin option versus code; it's the first item mentioned on the 'footer/credits' reference page linked.
