We have this page on our site http://www.dbds.com/news-notes/ which we want to make into our blog index page. For testing I created this page http://www.dbds.com/test/ which is currently set as the blog page.
So, my question is, how can I get the featured image and new-notes content onto the blog index and detail pages above the blog listing or blog article content.
http://www.dbds.com/news-notes/June 2, 2015 at 11:44 am #154574brockMemberTry going to
dashboard > settings > reading
and setting theposts page
to be your news-notes page.June 2, 2015 at 11:47 am #154576gswartzMemberRight now the Test page is set up identically to news-notes. I don't want to be doing anything that will screw up news-notes since it's a "live" page. And the Test page already IS set up as the posts page. So, changing it to news-notes will be the same result as what you see right now on the test page.

Just to clarify, are you trying to get your blog listing to show up under that nice looking image with the News & Notes caption (just with the blog listing appearing underneath)? And you also want to keep the little bit of content that is there on the News & Notes page? Your original question is confusing.
June 2, 2015 at 11:58 am #154579gswartzMemberYes, we want both the blog index page and each individual blog article to have the News & Notes image and caption at the top of the page. Like where it currently is on the news & notes page... just with the blog content below that. Make sense? Sorry if it's confusing.

Here's how my page-blog.php looks now. Also, is this supposed to put the content on both the blog index page and each individual post page? Thanks.

genesis();June 2, 2015 at 1:10 pm #154593gswartzMemberOk I've gotten further. I had to go to the reading area and remove the Test page as the posts page. Now the content shows above the posts. However it doesn't show on the individual blog post pages. Any ideas what to change to accomplish this?
June 2, 2015 at 2:46 pm #154603TomParticipantEmm... You should probably stop what you're doing and reconsider the structure you're using for the entire site.
By all appearances you're using Genesis alone, without a child theme. This means that any updates (and one is imminent, being currently in beta) will destroy all of the customization work done so far.
There are literally hundreds of child themes, scores of free themes and many dev-starter theme to use. Have a look at the link in my sig for a browse at what's available.

We're just doing some tweaks to it. I realize there could be issues with an update, but we don't have the time/money to redo this whole thing just to get it into a child theme. I do appreciate the advice though.
