I'm helping a friend transfer his website from Dreamweaver to WordPress. He has just downloaded the Genesis Framework and the Genesis Sample. The Genesis Sample is active. He also has downloaded several plugins needed to edit his site - Siteorigins plugins and others.

The problem is this: Sitting of top of the page we are trying to edit is another section with these links along the right column - Recent Comments, Archives, Categories, No Categories, Meta, Site Admin, Log-out, Entries RSS, Comments RSS, and WordPress.org.

Can someone tell us how to get rid of this material? Underneath this is the page we can edit - a clean canvas to work with. My website looks perfect and I know how to work with it. But I can't work with my friend's site in a similar way.

If you need a screen shot of the problem I can give it to you.

The URL I included is for my website.

Those are the default widgets. Go to appearance/widgets and deleted them from the widget area.
