Hey - I'm trying to add, effectively, a widget space in between my footer widgets and the footer itself - but within the footer widget div. Effectively, this space is being used for a text widget - but it's going to house an image.

The footer widget div has a background image (tiled) and then this image needs to be on top of that.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,

do you need to change that image?
If not, there is no really reason to use a widget area. You could just echo the image on either the genesis_before_footer or genesis_footer hook and position it with css.

I was doing it this way to make it more easily changeable, yeah... But I guess having to change it in code is just as easy.
