    Hi,
I'm using Magazine Pro theme. I want to hide som categories from my featured posts. Say I have 3 categories; 'cars', 'planes' and 'boats'. I don't want 'boats' to show in my featured post list.

I use a plugin called 'Simply exclude' which enables me to exclude some categories from showing up on frontpage. But it doesn't work when I use the featured post widget.

Is there any way to fix this?

Have you tried the Genesis Featured Widget Amplified plugin? It gives you more control over including/excluding categories than the standard Genesis Featured Widget.

Tried it, but its very buggy. Probably because it's not been updated in over a year.
    Another solution?

One solution may be to add a category called "featured" to all the posts you want to show in the featured widgets, then set the featured post widget to only display posts from that category. Hopefully that makes sense. So in your example above, all posts in the cars and planes categories would also be assigned to the featured category (or whatever name you choose) and boats would not.

Yes, I did that as a temp solution, and it works like a charm. Thanks anyway for your time 🙂
