MemberHello,
I figured out how to setup a link to my fb page using the widget at the top right in my header and also at the bottom of my page but I want both of those to automatically like my page before it sends them there. I went into widgets and it asks for my fb url but is there something special I need to do so that it likes it rather than just opens up my fb page in another window? A friend of mine added a like button on their website so each time a customer clicks the button it first likes and then takes them to her fb page.
Thanks for your help!

MemberAnyone have any ideas how to do this? I know a lot of businesses have their fb links setup to automatically like their page before linking them to it.
Thanks

MemberWow, I'm shocked at the lack of response. Are most people not putting like buttons on their websites or are they just using a plugin rather than using the widgets in the header and footer. That's the main question I'm trying to get answered is if there is a way to use the built in widgets (I have a fb link at the top and bottom of my page) and have it like and then link to my fb page or if that's not possible and I need to deactivate those widgets and use a plugin. I'd like to keep it clean using the built in icon at the top but not sure if I can get it to perform the like function.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Dane,
I'm just guessing here, but it could be that no one has responded because this idea seems rather unethical. Whether or not a person "likes" something with their Facebook account should be entirely up to them, and not as a result of them clicking on a link to a Facebook page. Beyond that, I don't see how it would be technically possible to do that, because I think it would involve some level of control over their Facebook account.

MemberI use the widgets that Facebook developers page provides.
There is a widget to add a like button.

MemberHi John, I appreciate the reply but I'm not following you on how this would be unethical or how you'd need control of their facebook account. The majority of the websites out there have a like button on them so it's nothing new or shady. All I'm trying to do is get the header or footer widget to be a like button instead of just directing them to my facebook page. Maybe I'm not explaining it very well.
I will check out that plugin tomorrow Kim. Can I put it where the widget has my facebook button? Thanks! Dane

MemberJetpack offers a 'Facebook like button' that also connects to the Facebook page. Hope that helps.

ParticipantHey Dane,
It's very possible that I misunderstood you on this. It sounded like you were wanting your visitors to 'Like' your Facebook page without knowing that that was what they were doing when they clicked on the link / icon / etc.
Sorry about that!
John
