    hi folks,

    Any pointers for below would be much appreciated.

    I'm trying to display hierarchical breadcrumbs for a custom post type. Genesis 2.1.2 running Trestle theme. I get default hierarchical breadcrumbs for 'pages' ok, e.g.

    home/mother
    home/mother/daughter

    But for custom post type I get:

    home/cpt-name/mother
    home/cpt-name/daughter

    but not the desired- home/cpt-name/mother/daughter

    On a child cpt page the parent is not displayed in the breadcrumbs. But the parent is displayed in the URL , e.g. http://www.mysite.me/cpt-name-label/mother/daughter

    Settings for CPT are -

    'supports'            => array( 'title', 'editor', 'excerpt', 'thumbnail', 'revisions', 'custom-fields', 'page-attributes', 'post-formats', 'genesis-seo', 'genesis-cpt-archives-settings' ),
    'taxonomies'          => array( 'category' ),
    'hierarchical'        => true,
    'capability_type'     => 'page',

    Gary says ( http://docs.garyjones.co.uk/genesis/2.0.0/class-Genesis_Breadcrumb.html#_get_cpt_crumb ) -

    get_cpt_crumb( )
    Get breadcrumb for single custom post type entry, including any parent (CPT name) crumbs.
    Returns:
    string
    HTML markup.
    Since
    2.0.0

    but this seems just to get cpt-name/parent-or-child , not the family tree. Any ideas on what i need to show both parent and child?

    thanks
    ian

    Hi Ian. I think what the documentation means is that the parent crumb refers to the custom post type archive, not the post parent, if that makes sense. I don't think the function supports hierarchical custom post types.

    However, if you look at genesis/lib/classes/breadcrumb.php, there is a filter 'genesis_single_crumb' on line 215 that you could use to add the parent posts into the markup output.
