Hi! I'm trying to open the Genesis Framework theme setup link from http://my.studiopress.com/ but it is linked incorrectly! The link takes me to the Genesis sample setup. Please update or redirect me to correct link!
http://my.studiopress.com/May 6, 2014 at 6:52 pm #103960SummerMemberThe sample theme is the default Genesis framework child theme.
You never EVER want to modify the framework files, because you'll lose all your customizations with the next framework update.

It appears the studiopress link is linked to the wrong source. It keeps taking me to http://my.studiopress.com/setup/genesis-sample-theme-setup/ ---and what I need is the framework setup. Do you know the link?
May 6, 2014 at 6:59 pm #103962SummerMemberThen maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are trying to set up?
If you install Genesis and the sample theme on your website, everything you need for basic configuration is in the Genesis menu, but those configurations will be specific to some of the settings in the child theme you use... for example the default image sizes in Magazine Pro are different from the image sizes in Lifestyle Pro or the sample theme.
99% of your setup is in configuring the child theme you want to use, not the framework, per se. Think of the framework as being a really cool shortcut to help the chld themes get things done in a pretty or functional way.
So, what exactly are you trying to set up?

May 6, 2014 at 7:07 pm #103965SummerMemberYou need the framework and a child theme to achieve an optimal outcome. The Genesis menu won't appear in the WordPress admin area until a Genesis child theme is activated.
First, upload both the genesis folder and the genesis-sample folder to your wp-content/themes location. In the Appearance menu, you'll activate the Sample Theme, and that will present a Genesis menu in the admin area, where all your basic configurations for Genesis will take place
You can then use the sample theme as is, or follow the instructions for the sample theme setup... the link that you referenced is the correct link.
