    Hello,

    I'm a newbie trying to learn on my own. My current website was created on Genesis Framework. I want to have a second website created with the Divi Theme from Elegant Themes. I want to try to create it myself.

    I can't find out if Genesis supports the Divi theme? Can someone enlighten me? Thank you!

    I don't know if it IS possible, but I wouldn't do it. And yes, I have used both genesis and Divi (not for the same site), so I speak from experience.

    In my opinion, Divi is best for sites that will use only PAGES (not posts, not custom post types) and will only have a handful of them at most (like, five or six pages, tops). And it is best for VERY FAST servers, since it loads about 750k in CSS and javascript.

    If you use Divi, you will have to stick with the Divi theme, because if you decide to switch themes, all your visitors will see are a bunch of short codes where the content on your pages used to be. So you are stuck with Divi.

    And unless you LOVE editing CSS, you will be stuck with the (sometimes obnoxiously) large size eye candy.

    But if you love how Divi looks, and you only want a handful of pages, and you don't care so much about things like custom posts types, don't care so much about how blog posts look, don't want to add much functionality, and can live with the large size of the various eye-candy, then yeah, Divi might be right for you.

    BTW: there are many FREE Genesis themes out there, so if you want something that is quite attractive, you might be able to find one that will require little to no customization on your part. You will just have to google them.

    Divi is made by Elegant themes so its not supported by StudioPress and is coded very differently.

    Thank you @anotherusername @braddalton @tom. I would love to find a free template that worked for me. I've scoured through so many. I'm terribly picky. I know exactly what I want. 😉
