I manage about 20 sites, many on different hosts.

Out of the 20, there are a handful that won't update to the latest Genesis theme.

Click on "update now" (get the warning)

Brings me to the next step, with the only error message being "Could not copy file. genesis/404.php"

I click "click here to complete the upgrade" and it goes to the "theme settings" page, without updating.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me? Again, it's with different hosts but setup is the same on all other sites where it DID work.

    Thanks

P.S. I don't know why an email wasn't sent out to customers to share the important info about the update?

Could not copy file generally means your back end permissions are messed up. I've seen this on AWS servers. It's not a StudioPress issue. This is a server related issue. Try updating the site manually through FTP.

Thanks. This is the first time this issue has occurred to these sites.

Another site is actually telling me the theme is up to date right after I click "complete the update" but it's not.

Does it sound like the same issue to you?

    Thanks Victor.
