Genesis Featured Posts – Custom Post Types

Is there a way without installing a plugin that I can get Genesis Featured Posts to output custom posts? At this moment it only seems to recognise standard blog posts.

not that i know of

there is that plugin, genesis featured posts extended

as this is a genesis specific plugin, i would no be concerned about using it, genesis plugins are very good and meant to extend the functionality of genesis, don't think of them as a typical plugin, more of an add on.

Hi studionoobly,
For this you have to create a new template, and then assign that template to a page where you want to show your custom post type feature post.

custom post types are great in templates but what studionoobly wants to do is have them show in the Genesis Featured Posts

Actually I'm new to the forum but OLD in Genesis & WordPress , so I just taking my part in By helping others ...

I'll take care of that in future as well.. 🙂
A code of featured widget is bit complex, It only understand the person familiar with Php or WordPress coding, that's y I can't paste the code here.. Because May be studionoobly miss some point & result is site will be down...

Hi guys thanks for all your feedback, for the time being I'm using the "Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widget" (thanks Jamie) which works quite nicely but I am worried in case they give up supporting the plugin and then sometime in the future it breaks a clients website.

What do you guys think, should I risk it or persevere with trying to find a code solution?
