Hi,
Just started using Genesis breadcrumbs but now noticed an increasing number of duplicate meta descriptions in Webmaster Tools. any suggestions on how to avoid this?

I don't see what the two things have to do with each other. Breadcrumbs are simply links to pages. The meta descriptions on your site are most likely coming from your Yoast SEO plugin. Perhaps this will help: http://kb.yoast.com/article/237-how-do-i-fix-duplicate-meta-tags
