Hi I have a couple of questions:
1. How do I get my slider to show the entire title and photo? Right now, it's cutting off the top.
2. Is there a way to use more than one Genesis Responsive Slider showing different photos in different portions of one blog?
3. I'd like to be able to put a photo in the left side of the header where the site title and description are now and the site title and description on the right. Can a novice to do that?
4. Can anyone recommend a basic theme similar to the Genesis theme but with that can be adjusted without creating a whole new child theme? I tried News Pro, but it got too "busy" too fast, and I'd like more of the posts to show on each page.
5. Finally, if I can't find another theme, I would like to make a few changes to the basic Genesis theme I'm using now. Although I'm comfortable changing site title fonts, I'm not that confident in my other skills yet. Do I need to make a child theme first and if I change this Genesis CSS, will it change for any sites I run using Genesis?
I know this is a lot to ask. Thanks for you help!

Here are some answers:
1. Try making the height bigger in your slider settings or remove your content or make the excerpt area wider. The title is getting cut off because you have too many things to display in that space. You can adjust your image settings to see if a different image size would display your image better. The best way I have found to control how images are cropped and appear in the slider is to set the slider to display full-size images and then to crop my images to the exact dimensions needed before uploading them.
2. The Genesis Responsive Slider is not set up to run multiple different sliders on a site. I found this hack tutorial, but I never could get it to work. http://www.wp-code.com/wordpress-snippets/different-genesis-reponsive-sliders/ I ended up just using a different slider on sites that need multiple sliders, in which case I use either SlideDeck or Portfolio Slideshow (the Pro versions) depending upon the needs for the sliders.
3. The easiest way for a "novice" to put a photo to the left and move the location of the Site title and description is to create an image that looks like what you want the header to look like (containing the photo and text) and upload it as a full-width header.
4. I would just go through all of the theme demos and find one that looks closest to what you want. You could try the sample child theme, possibly.
5. ALWAYS, ALWAYS make changes in a child theme. If you make changes to the genesis framework, you will lose your changes every time you update Genesis.

Au Coeur, thank you so much! This sounds exactly like what I wanted to know. Great idea about the full width header photo. Sometimes I overlook the easiest solution. Ugh! Thanks so much for explaining about WHY not to edit the Genesis them too. That makes perfect sense, but it's not anything I'd have ever thought of.
Your post probably went through so any times because it knows I'm a bit slow and would need to read it a few times to catch everything. 😉
