I've been unable to update Genesis to latest version on my websites. On running the update, I get this message:

The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Invalid archive structure

Here's what happens when I run the update:
    Genesis 2.9.0 Update Failure

The same thing happens when I attempt to run the update from Themes dashboard:
    Genesis update failure

I've noticed that all websites affected by this issue are on the same hosting service, so there could be something there. Can you help me identify what's causing this and resolve the issue with the update?

    Thanks and Regards,
    Dubie

I've updated 28 sites so far without issue. All I can suggest is that you download the update from the users area and update manually through FTP. It's possible that there's either something off with the hosting environment or you've gotten a hold of a bad file.

I've never updated a theme via ftp. So just to be sure: should I unzip the theme file and upload it to /wp-content/themes? This would rewrite the whole Genesis folder located there. Or should I delete the existing folder first?

    Thanks,
    Dubie

    Hi
I am also getting this on a couple of sites. Same server. I have a xammp localhost wordpress site and that was fine. Nervous about trying to delete a theme and reload this one until someones says it will work.
Anyone else having this issue. My server is Cpanel
