I've been getting a relatively large influx of emails form these forums, from posts I'm subscribed to. That's great and all, but they've all been spam bots making quick one-liner BS posts. I'd really prefer to subscribe to topics (it's how I help people here on the forums, as many people respond days later), but if this keeps up, I'm going to be forced to not subscribe, and thus miss out on responding to a lot of users with questions / followup answers.

I don't care if it's Captcha, a quick addition problem, or simply better security, but I'd love to see a stop to this roughly 10x increase in spam posts (the last 4-5 days). Anyone else noticing this, or have any thoughts?

We do what we can, and we have spam procedures in place here. I'm about to go clear up the lingering spam issues.

But if you do see a particular problem that is getting out of hand, it is best to file a support ticket and let us know, as this is a community forum and we do not monitor it.

I've definitely seen spam pop up before (who hasn't on any forum), but in the last 5 days or so I've gotten 4-5 emails with posts like "who let the dogs out" and "nice info!", from 1 post, new accounts. It just seemed like either someone targeted this site, or a new method of creating accounts / spamming was being introduced, causing an influx. That being said, I know that Susan (among other mods) do a great job of cleaning up, I'm just more concerned it might be an issue that doesn't need cleaning, but to be cut off at the source (whatever caused / is causing the influx).
