    In the center area of this http://gsfbolt.com/gsf1/ website 23 column area on the home page I would like the text for the articles with gallery images to fill that entire center space. As you can see now it only fills about half of that space. Is there a way to fill that width with the text excerpts?

    Make this change in your child theme's stylesheet at line 1285; width from 48% to 60%:

    #homepage-left {
    	clear: none;
    	float: left;
    	width: 60%;
    }

    Since you are doing a redesign of the site, you should consider upgrading from Genesis 1.8 to 2.02. This alone will improve your site's security and SEO characteristics. Adding a modern theme - even an upgrade from Lifestyle to Lifestyle Pro - will take this to another level altogether and add responsiveness to vastly improve presentation on tablets and phones. For $33, it could be the best investment for the site this year.
