Hi:
I am using Eleven40 Pro and I can't get the image to display on the featured homepage post. I can see it it the admin panel and it displays on the single post, but not on the homepage.
You can see the page here: http://www.johnstrubel.com
One other quick question: Can anyone point me to a tutorial for adding social media icons to the top navigation?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Sincerely,
John

To add social media icons to your primary navigation, follow this tutorial (link)
January 26, 2015 at 11:47 am #138669slobizmanMemberSorry, I'm kind of hijacking this thread, but it is concerning the featured image John was discussing. I had just installed Eleven40Pro too (my first experience with this theme), and am basically trying to accomplish almost exactly what John has done with his great looking blog. Here are my issues, and I'm probably just not understanding how to set the theme up properly.
1. How do I get the Featured Image to show up on the top post of the home page.
2. On the post excerpts that follow the initial post, my thumbnails are only 270px wide (270 x 100), unlike John's blog which shows 372x132 images.
3. Also love how the single posts his featured images go between the header and the footer, as wide as the page. How is that done?
Maybe these are custom changes and not part of the theme settings. If so, if John is reading this and would not mind sharing...would be much appreciated.
Note: I have the site set up in "Reading" options to show "Your latest posts" as the set up instructions suggest.

I use the Genesis Featured Images Extended plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-minimum-images-extended/

January 26, 2015 at 6:11 pm #138717slobizmanMemberRegarding Question #2, I said, "On the post excerpts that follow the initial post, my thumbnails are only 270px wide (270 x 100), unlike John’s blog which shows 372?—132 images."
You pointed me to an article about the Genesis Featured Posts Widget. I'm not following on that. Are you maybe using a static home page and placing the widget on it? Otherwise not sure how to incorporate that into the home page I have that is set as the default for Eleven40, which is "Your Posts."
Note: I'm confused as to why Genesis doesn't have a thumbnail that is the proper width to fit into the 2-across columns they set to show on the home page, after the first post.

Scroll down until you see this code:
}
//* Add new featured image size
add_image_size( 'grid-featured', 372, 132, TRUE );Replace the image size from 270, 100 to 372, 132
Does that help?

January 26, 2015 at 9:36 pm #138729slobizmanMemberYes thank you. I was thinking to do that, but wasn't sure. What I am realizing is the both the width of the featured image for the teasers on the home page and for the featured image for a single post are sized for sites that set Eleven40 Pro to use two sidebars. Using one sidebar creates a wider teaser area, requiring a wider image, but it's still using that featured image size that was set for the narrower one when two sidebars are specified.
January 26, 2015 at 9:42 pm #138730johnstrubelMemberThe featured images might looked distorted unless you already had them sized to 372x132. If so, just resize the images. A little tedious, I know, but it will look clean and sharp in the end.
