Issue: I'm using the custom menu widget in the header right area and the tabs do not quite line up. Does anyone have a work around?
Not sure I understand what you want them to look like. The header .widget (line 2265) has a large margin-top of 2.5rem which pushes it down below the header. You can remove that, but as I don't know what you are trying to achieve it's difficult to give you more info.

Basically need the nav bar to lineup like this: http://sharesandstockmarkets.com/
If removing line 2265 will do the trick could you advise how I could do that?
no worries I've managed to locate where in the stylesheet it needed tweaking 🙂
