I have the Exec. Child Theme and If I run the responsive slider, I can't get my post(pages) content to fit and when I split the page posts into halves, they are very very small

<div class="one-half first">  is the command I used found from prior posts.

    http://demo.studiopress.com/executive/

    http://ecbiz129.inmotionhosting.com/~tanden6/dir/

    is my test URL.

If I remove the slider the havles are a nice clean fit.  This looks nothing like the demo.

Thanks in advance for any help.

As this is a set-up type question, you can go ahead and submit a support ticket: http://my.studiopress.com/help/

    But in the meantime...

<div class=”one-half first”>  is for setting up column classes on pages (or posts) - you don't need that for the landing page of Executive.

The Executive Theme has a widgeted area called "Home Top"

Home Top – we have used three Featured Page widgets in this area. Just drag three widgets in place and pick your pages. Have an image uploaded to each page for the thumbnail to show.

Note we have filled in the widget title, and checked the box to show the page content, with a character cut off at 150. Fill in “Read more” for the link to read more. Choose the Featured Image thumbnail size.

If you place three widgets in this section, they will display as three columns automatically.

Thanks Susan for the quick response.  I review the widgeted section and try to "figure this out."   Newbie I am to WP.

Any good suggestions on sites for becoming proficient in WP ?   I've worked through the tutorials.  The challenges seems to be all the html/php/css customization.

    Mike:

These aren't strictly tutorials - they are mixes of tutorials and personal blogs for some of the StudioPress "gurus"

http://www.briangardner.com/ - Brian is the creator of Genesis.

http://designsbynickthegeek.com/tag/genesis-explained - Nick is the "key master" around here - he works for Copyblogger, and is one of the major support people at the help desk and here in the forums.

Susan-  Yes I found Brian and have been 'creeping' on his site; a fellow Illinoisian.  I have also begun poking around Nick's site.

    Thanks again-

    You're welcome.

Before I moved to Texas, I worked in Chicago for 18 years 😉
