    Why is the "http:" in this code NOT added by Genesis?

    <!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="//html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script><![endif]-->

    On one of our StudioPress child themes, we have this code:

    <!--[if lt IE 9]>
    <script src="http://html5shim.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script>
    <![endif]--><!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="//html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script><![endif]-->

    The first <!--[if lt IE 9]>xxxx<![endif]--> is added via the Genesis Settings head() option, when the html5 template was not working in IE8.

    The second <!--[if lt IE 9]>xxxx<![endif]--> appears to be inserted by Genesis here: genesis\lib\js\load-scripts.php

    I am curious why the url is truncated, that is the http: is missing.

    What is causing the URL to be truncated in such a way that results in IE8 not displaying the site correctly.

    On another Genesis child theme, despite adding the IE8 specific script , the new html5 tags are not recognized by the browser.

    Hi,
    I don't follow your entire question, but I can provide a lead.

    If memory serves, in Genesis 2, some parts of it were changed to use a protocol-less URL, thus no "http:" The idea behind this is well-intended, it's to prevent security warnings on SSL (stronger security) sites. Server configurations do vary, obviously, and maybe yours does not like this change.

    Hope that helps.

    *Genesis 2.0.2v.
    I have this kind of issue with a child theme.

    While the comment it is being printed in the wp head for all other browsers, when in IE8 and below, the conditional comment is nowhere in the document.

    So, all html5 tags are not recognized by IE older, causing big issues in the website.

    For the moment, I added the html5shiv.js script to the child theme with an extra function.
