    WP: 3.8; Magazine child theme;
    The site works fine, but in the admin>appearance>themes throws a warning: Error: Template is missing, and in the lower part shows:
    Broken Themes
    The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    Name Description
    magazine Template is missing.
    There is a style sheet... what is the template supposed to be?
    What to do?

    Did you change the name of the theme in the style sheet?

    No.
    The beginning of the style sheet is missing... from the sentence that defines the template all the way to the begginng of the actual CSS ...
    Can I take the missing part from the style.css.bak file and complete it?

    You should be able to do that.

    I had the same problem, added the whole upper part to the css from the backup style.css and it worked perfectly. Thanks! (initially, wanted to remove extra character, apparently messed up instead).
