    Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade from Genesis version 2.2.7 to Genesis 2.3.1 but the auto-update is failing with the following message:
    PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Invalid archive structure

Any thoughts? Everything on the site appears to be working fine.

Site is running WordPress 4.6.1 with Serenity Child Theme.

    Hi,

might be an issue with downloading the new version to your server, might be a permission issue...

You should open a ticket with the official Studiopress support at my.studiopress.com/help
They are dealing with these technical things.

    Okay, will do, thanks.

Looking at it a bit more closely, I wonder if PCLZIP and bad format implies that something is not set up correctly with the ZIP file?

It´s very unlikely that something is wrong with the zip file this long after the release but possible.

More likely is that the download didn't complete (corrupted zip file) or that there is a permission problem preventing the zip to decompress.

If all else fails, you could download and unzip the file to your computer and upload the new files through FTP.

Oh, right, yes, good point. I can see now that I've already updated to 2.3.1 on a different site I run.

The problem site is on a fairly secure school server, so I wouldn't be surprised if permissions are causing the issue. I actually don't have FTP access to it at the moment, although the auto-updates have worked fine until now.

I'll see what Studio Press support says about it and go from there.

Thanks for your thoughts, though. Much appreciated!
