Enter content before list of posts blog page

Hello,
I am using the blog page template for a few pages on my website, to display events, using the query_args shortcode to display only one category.

When I use a new blog page template and add in the code for pore-post content, then my category custom field doesn't seem to work, although the pre-post content shows

I inserted something like this:

//* Template Name: Blog

//* Show page content above posts
add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_standard_loop', 5 );

genesis();

I want to have both happening... thank you!
