Current setup: WordPress 5.3 running Magazine Pro Theme theme. Using Genesis 3.2.1.

    Current category URL https://www.immigrationworld.com/category/france/
I want it to be https://www.immigrationworld.com/france/ instead

How do I take care of it, preferably by not having to change the code

    https://www.immigrationworld.com/category/france/

You can change that under the Settings > Permalinks. That's a WordPress function.

I am able to drop category in a post URL
But in the category URL itself I wasn't able to figure it out in Permalinks section

Under Optional, I do see a category base field. But not sure how to drop things to make the url look like http://immigrationworld.com/france instead of /category/france (this is category URL)

That's a WordPress function - https://wordpress.org/support/article/settings-permalinks-screen/. You should refer to WordPress to learn how to use Permalinks.

I just had a request from a colleague to remove the word category from the breadcrumb URL. Here's the code. Maybe it will help with what you want to do.

You would add in your own "Category Base" or you can use a trick with adding a period (.) to that field. That will exclude the word "category" name. But if you are using a plugins like Yoast, it has it's own check box to exclude the word "category."

I used Yoast SEO to achieve what I wanted

Search Appearance -> Taxanomies ->Category URLs -> Remove the categories prefix
