    I want to have the Genesis Featured Posts widget to show a dropdown menu, including showing the category tags for the posts.

    I haven't heard of the ability to add a dropdown, but I'll reach out to see if anyone has a suggestion (or has written a tutorial).

    You need to hire a developer to build you a custom widget.
