    I'm using the Genesis Sample theme, and want to try the .alignfull and .alignwide classes for my home page.

    I'm hoping to use full width for the Cover Image Block, and change the background color of several other blocks and have that color go full width (but not the content).

    I've found the code example below, but am not sure what the Genesis Sample element is for the 'writy_setup' element. I've also seen only the 'add_theme_support( 'align-wide' );' used, without the function. So curious if the function is needed for Genesis Sample.

    function writy_setup() {
      add_theme_support( 'align-wide' );
    }
    add_action( 'after_setup_theme', 'writy_setup' );

    And after that is determined, I know I need to set up the correct CSS class for the sections, but am just trying to get this code entered correctly first.

    Thanks
    Doug

    This was posted yesterday, https://studiopress.blog/the-future-of-gutenberg-and-genesis/.

    It explains the direction of Genesis and Gutenberg. While the Genesis development team is working on integration, it's too early in the process for anything to have been released yet. Gutenberg won't be released in WordPress Core until next year.
